When it Rains, It Pours

Rainy season can be cool - literally though. It's the time where you get to enjoy the comforts of your home with a hot chocolate mug to warm your freezing heart, I mean hand. But it's not that romantic and satisfying to some people. It can be a hassle especially if you nee to your eyebrows intact for a meeting or appointment.

But besides from ruining eyebrows and gelled hairs, rainy season also has its dangers. Usually the season spells out SICKNESS. It's the season of colds, dengues, fevers, and disasters like floods and landslides. It's not like I'm telling you how to live your life or anything but here are some healthy and safe tips to let you enjoy rainy season.

1. Wash your hands. And I don't mean wash your hands from a rain gutter. Wash your hands with clean water and soap. Bacteria and viruses come alive during the monsoon and you can come in contact with them after being out in the rain. So keep your hands clean as frequently as you can.

2. Keep your surroundings clean. When rainy season comes, it's easier for mosquitoes to find and give birth to places with stagnant water. Clean your surroundings and flip containers with waters. Mosquitoes don't do abortions so we might as well clean our surroundings and make sure those dengue carrying mosquitoes don't multiply.

3. Stay Dry. When going out, best not to get yourself wet to avoid any diseases. And since you don't have a force field superpower to shield you from those raindrops, you might as well just bring an umbrella or raincoat to keep you dry.

4. Avoid danger zones. Clogged gutters because of constant downpour of rain are usually the cause of floods. And it isn't advisable to swim for fun in them no matter how tempting it is. Please don't make diving boards. Also avoid mountain sides, landslides often occurs in this areas during rainy days. As much as possible, stay vigilant and evacuate if needed. Keep yourself and family safe.

5. Stay warm. No matter how much you want to believe you're a Cullen, you're not a vampire. You need to keep your body warm to avoid colds, sore throats and coughs - common ailments during rainy season. Please don't set yourself on fire, you can achieve body warning by drinking herbal tea or wrapping yourself with blankets when cold.

If you think these tips are useless to keep you healthy and safe during rainy season, then you can just chant "rain rain go away" till the rain stops. But until then, stay safe and healthy my fellow species.
