Fire prevention is public’s duty—DENR V
Legazpi City – The Department of Environmental and National Resources V (DENR V) urges all citizens to actively participate in the fire prevention campaign of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).
Gilbert Gonzales, DENR V regional director calls out to the public to “be responsible enough to check their surroundings of possible fire agents, eradicate clearing practices, stop burning yard wastes and use fire with extreme caution to avoid catastrophic events.”
Last March 1, DENR V joined forces with other agencies in celebrating BFP’s 50th year with the theme “Kaalaman at Pagtutulungan ng Sambayanan, Kaligtasan sa Sunog ay Makakamtan” through a foot parade dubbed as “A Walk for a Free and a Fire-Safe Nation” from the Bicol University Commencement to Peñaranda Park.
Head of agencies including Gonzales encouraged the public to be more vigilant in their efforts to avert fires and reminded them that this advocacy is not a sole responsibility of BFP but of all citizens.
DENR V conducts various fire prevention drives all year round. An emergency task force has also been created in order to response immediately on crisis situations including fire scenarios.
